Roqayah Ajaj
My name is Roqayah Ajaj, and I am a PhD candidate, studying at the University of Minnesota. I am a blind woman from Saudi Arabia. I want to empower people with disabilities to reach their full potential, to feel included and welcomed in their society. Throughout my life, I have been passionate about raising awareness about people with disabilities. My goal is to bridge the gap between people with and without disabilities and to make a safe environment for all. The challenges that blind individuals face throughout their lives are often unseen and unrecognized by others (friends, neighbors, academic faculty and staff, and work places). This is why I started my blog, Diversely Blind — to share academic and non-academic stories about the blind experience, to raise awareness and to empower blind individuals. Empowerment occurs only if everyone collaborates.
